Fire & Water Forum (Alberta)
February 28 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
FreeThis forum will bring together a range of presenters to share knowledge around wildfires, land use and community risk. Using this shared knowledge from local managers and current researchers, we will try to understand the intersection between watershed management, community fire risk, and wildfire behaviour. Through presentations and discussions we hope to help communities consider options for risk management
Some of the topics include:
- water storage on the landscape and its effects on wildfires
- wildfire impacts on groundwater
- historic wildfire behaviour and anticipated wildfire behaviour
- watershed hydrology and wildfire interactions
- communities and wildfire management
Information will be presented so that there can be applied and realistic discussion of risk reduction strategies that Indigenous and Municipal communities can employ.
Registration is mandatory as lunch will be provided. If you are unable to make it after registering please let us know.
