Hydrological Modelling of Alberta – The Results
To model Alberta’s water resources we used the hydrologic model Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) in combination with the Sequential Uncertainty Fitting program (SUFI-2) to calibrate, validate, and perform uncertainty analysis based on the available measured river discharge data.
Final results using the observed climate data (as input to the SWAT model)
Long term (1985-2007) average distribution of:
- Precipitation
- Maximum and minimum temperature
- Green water flow (actual and potential evapotranspiration)
- Blue water (water yield plus deep aquifer recharge) and green water storage (soil moisture)
- Deep aquifer recharge
Final results using the CRU gridded climate data (as input to the SWAT model)
