C Canal Rehabilitation Highway 21 to Range Road 240
This project involves the modernization of the C Canal system between Highway 21 and Range Road 240 by installing an impermeable liner and improving hydraulic efficiency. The primary rehabilitation strategy will involve placing a gravel armor material over the liner and adjusting the cross-section to facilitate flow. This approach to modernization has been selected as it will deliver water efficiencies while simultaneously minimizing the impacts to adjacent landowners during construction.
Schedule
The majority of this project will be constructed in the winter of 2021/2022, with the remainder being finished over the winter of 2022/2023.
Cost Estimate
The initial cost of this work is estimated at $6,250,000.
Glenrose Canal Phase 3 and Spillway
This project involves the modernization of the Glenrose Canal system by installing an impermeable liner under buried earth and gravel armor. The detailed design has been optimized to improve hydraulic efficiency and provide opportunities to reduce return flows. An operational spillway has also been included as part of the design to manage inflows and allow for effective control of the canal level due to the rate of inflow observed in this canal stretch.
Schedule
Construction of this project commenced during the winter of 2020/2021, and remaining work will be completed during the winter of 2021/2022
Cost Estimate
The project has been estimated to cost $4,380,000.
Field Pipeline Phase 2
This project involves the replacement of an unrehabilitated section of existing canal with a 4.9-kilometre gravity pipeline. This project will generate water savings by eliminating evaporation and return flows as the pipeline is closed.
Schedule
This project commenced constructed in the spring of 2021 and is on schedule to be completed by the end of summer 2021.
Cost Estimate
The cost estimate for this project is $1,440,000.
