Family and Youth South Sask River Testing (Alberta)

June 8 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Grab your gumboots! Come down to the river and collect water quality and invertebrate samples, then assess the river’s health.

At this fun and educational event, participants will learn how to assess water health and determine the current state of the South Saskatchewan River water at Police Point in Medicine Hat.

CreekWatch will discuss water quality and invertebrates (little critters) then explain how to collect samples. Sample containers will be provided along with relevant protective equipment.

After samples are collected, they will be tested for seven water quality parameters and compared to water quality guidelines. CreekWatch and South East Alberta Watershed Alliance will explain the connection between water quality and ecosystem health.

Suitable for families with children and youth aged 8 and up. Bring your rubber boots!

Park at the first parking lot on the left when entering Police Point. CreekWatch and SEAWA will guide participants to the beach for sampling.

Tickets are free but there are only 30 spots available. Book yours now!
