The University of Calgary has hired a familiar face to take over the school's research department. Edward McCauley has been named vice-president of research following a two year stint at the University of California, Santa Barbara, as director of the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis. Prior to that McCauley was a biology professor at the U of C from 1985 to 2009, building an international reputation in the field of population ecology with a focus on water issues. McCauley helped found the Alberta Ingenuity Centre for Water Research in 2003 that led to the creation of the Alberta Ingenuity Water Research Institute, which brought together scholars and researchers from several disciplines and from around the world to tackle fundamental issues related to water.....click here to learn more.
